Lara started her nursing career at Lower Plenty Veterinary Clinic and completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing at Box Hill TAFE in 2008. Her interest in animal health and science saw her furthering her studies at Latrobe University where she obtained a Bachelor degree with Honours in Animal and Veterinary Biosciences in 2014.
Before commencing her Honours year in 2013, Lara travelled to South Africa and completed the Vets-in- the Wild course, which provided a fantastic opportunity for Lara to learn how to work with wild animals such as lion cubs, zebra and buffalo. It was an experience she will never forget.
Lara joined the Bundoora team in May 2013, where she has furthered her interest in surgical and emergency nursing. Since her South Africa experience Lara has continued to have a special place in her heart for the feline species but of course these days she is caring for the smaller and more domesticated kind of cat.
When Lara is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, travelling and playing sports. Lara’s passion is in particular for downhill skiing and paintball and favourite destinations include Mt Hotham and Falls Creek.
Lara has an ever -expanding fur family, which currently includes her schnauzer “Archer” and her two cats “Big Meow” and “Boo” and a very tolerant, not so furry partner Dean.
